Sell Leads To Local Contractors

There are many contractors in your area that don't care about websites, they don't care if you can help them rank, they don't care about how pretty you can make their website, they just want to know who wants to pay them for their services.

In the process of building our house we have been dealing with contractors, people that do septic tanks, plumbing, electricity, excavating, etc.

Not a single one has had a website and I really don't get the feeling they really want one.

HOWEVER, I'm guessing they would be more than willing to pay me for live human contacts that my website collects that are interested in their services ;)

In otherwords, don't confuse the contracters with mumbo internet speak, go do the work of getting people who want their services and then ask them for money for that.

You Are The Affiliate King

I've never done this but I'm guessing the smart money is and I might give it a whirl shortly.

Basically you create a website geotargetted to your area and the type of lead you are trying to get. For instance people that need a septic tank installed.

You go and create a septic site for your area, get all the traffic you can, and then put a lead capture form on the page. Basically you ask your visitors to give their phone number and email if they want a free quote or something.

On the backend you work out deals with the local contractors to pay you for each lead you send them. I'm not sure you would ask but I'm guessing you could name your price.

Contractors charge ridiculous fees per hour, I swear they think they are brain surgeons. I wouldn't be surprised if they wouldn't pay $50 or more for a lead.

Finally

That is a way to make money with your online skills, Sell Leads To Local Contractors!

It isn't the usual structure, it isn't blogging, it isn't affiliate marketing, it isn't what most people are doing, but I'm guessing it could be quite profitable.

I'm always amazed how

I'm always amazed how creative you are and how you think "outside the box" with this affiliate stuff. I'm new to this and have no idea about geotargeting. How does it work? How do you do it? etc
Maybe you can create a post on this in the future, hint, hint :)

thanks jak, getotargetting

thanks jak, getotargetting just means using keywords that people from a certain area would use, like the city, state, zip, local landmarks, etc.
like ohio river boats
kentucky septic installers
new jersey lawyer.

Contractors

Dude I have been doing this for my neighbor for over a year. He has a landscaping and lawn service. I fixed up a website for him and collect email addresses for him and send out contact forms. The only problem is that you have to be in the middle of the contact otherwise your contractor dude will skip out on paying you. Don't hand the leads over without payment up front. Found out that you shouldn't trust your contractor dudes, even if he's your neighbor. The cool thing if I send him a customer that signs for a year of lawn service, he pays me $100. A landscaping job pays $200.

I don't know how it is in the

I don't know how it is in the US, but here in Australia the "tradies" are normally so busy they struggle to keep up with the leads they get from the paper version of Yellow Pages alone.

Most of them are not interested in getting more business really be it from the web or other means (just look at how much business they lose by not turning up to appointments to quote etc).

The one thing they are interested in is reducing their overheads though. I had one guy doing our fence who was so excited by the fact he could email quotes and invoices now instead of spending 25c per fax.

Yep, that's the level it's at... :)

nursery

Yes, I did a couple of sites for nurseries and wineries and they are reaping the rewards and best of all, I own those domains.

We just launched this site!!

Mark,

My Pops and I just launched this website in it's improved form about 4 months ago, check it out!

Still trying to get the word out to the contractors but the ones in AZ. that are listed are sure liking it.

We list all contractors from A to Z. It is a zipcode search, so type in the zipcode you need the work done and ... GREAT IDEA!

Simple and inexpensive.

Yes, lead generation like

Yes, lead generation like this can be *very* profitable. That's all I'm saying on the subject ;)

good stuff.   After

good stuff.   After connecting some dots I though of you when typing this post maybe doing this type of lead generation.

home improvement leads

Home improvement leads is a big business.

You can start with service magic that pays like $5 to $10 bucks a lead. But best to work directly with a local contractor.

A site is doing that in my hometown of Arlington, MA that is a member of my seo networking group called CircleChoice.com.

good luck to all in getting creative by going local.

Couldn't be More Correct

You are completely and utterly correct. I would suggest having your main page be a "Get a Quote" form and then have a blog about your topic ie. Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, etc...
