Popunder And Junk Traffic Update

The other day I mentioned buying popunder and dirt cheap traffic. After a week here are the results. If you ever see a claim for tons of traffic for little money then it's probably too good to be true. However it's fun to test.

Buying The Traffic

100,000 visitors purchased for $14.99 from www.webtrafficwholesale.com

In 9 days they claim they sent me 22,995 out of the 100,000 visitors already.

Sweet! That is some nice traffic for the price.

Directing The Traffic

Since I was buying "all" that traffic I needed somewhere to send them.

I chose a neverblueads.com offer. The one for gamefly.com that pays $18.75 per signup.

I thought if one conversion happened I would make money.

The Results So Far

0 conversions, go figure ;)

Neverblueads statistics show 91 clicks in the past 9 days.

So basically the people I'm buying the traffic from claim they sent 23,000 visitors so far and the place I'm sending them to say that only 91 actually showed up.

LOL, I reckon they must be getting lost somewhere.

It's also my opinion that the site I'm buying the traffic from is a scam, as probably most of these sites are.

Still 75000 More Visitors To Go

I don't see my conversion rate improving from 0% even though I'm still owed 75,000 visitors.

I think I'll stick with building real traffic to sites from links and mentions on sites or buying it from reputable sources.

And if you want to make money with junk traffic and crazy traffic claims then make a site selling the traffic, they are the winners financially from this experiment so far ;)

Junk Traffic

Mark, Nice investigative piece. I guess this goes to show junk is generally junk. I once saw a video on YouTube about this subject from a guy who had very little command of the English language. I guess that proves the point. Good work.

Mass cheap traffic is the

Mass cheap traffic is the worst traffic. I'm curious to know which country most of the visitors came from.

1 conversion

I am venturing into the mainstream game a little, and followed your lead. I promoted the free gas card promotion and after about 15,000 visitor (50 according to neverblue) i did get 1 conversion. I went the zip route thinking that at least 15 people would submit a zip out of 100,000 and make this profitable. Not on the right pace though... for a simple zip submit.. unreal.

As has been stated already,

As has been stated already, this was a good piece of investigative journalism.

So it's a scam. What a bunch of losers. Tell them to give you your money back.

thanks all yeah, i guess i

thanks all
yeah, i guess i could have sent them to my own tracking page and got more detailed results. if there is a next time ;)
interesting that sellporn got 1 conversion doing the same type of test.  where did you buy the traffic from?

More than likely its bot

More than likely its bot traffic or autosurf programs. Neverblue probably uses a javascript tracker to log traffic and bots typically don't support javascript (or in the case of autosurfs, strip it so the surf process is not interrupted by popups).

I'm sure if you ran it through a redirect on your site you would see huge numbers, but they are mostly just empty bot http requests.

I've never used these types

I've never used these types of services myself because I always suspected what you're saying was true.
Think of it this way. How easy would it be for you to write a program that "visited" a site 100,000 times? You could slap something like that together without even thinking too hard. So what's stopping some scam artist from doing the same thing? Nothing, obviously.

Junk Traffic

Here is the thing Mark with junk traffic. You need a crap load of it and a place that is going to honor what you pay for, and one thing you can count on is the worst conversations known to man.I know when I was on TAC, the first few days we (meaning team xy7.com) was spying on team pepperjam and watching there campaigns. The conversation rate they were getting on Van Clutes system was less then 1% at the beginning of the show. I understand it got a bit better towards the end.The trick with buying junk traffic is to be able to target it a lot better then just a random category. If you want conversations then you need to use keywords or target a site.Example, if I am promoting a dating offer for lavalife then I would target there site or one related to there site like mate1. Also the traffic used was not just a random traffic wholesaler, it was from sites that target people who have adware installed on there computers (which is legal because adware you have to opt in for). But I would not recommend this to anyone at this point because one I am not expert in doing this yet (I am registered with a few of the sites that sell this type of traffic)but also if you don't know what your doing you can burn through 200 bucks in a matter of minutes.

I knew that all along

Mark- the only reliable site is yours!!!

I knew all along, making money sites and those traffic generators are full of BS.

Good Work Mark.

Keep an eye...

Keep an eye open for conversions down the road. The cookie stays active for a bit.

They might have sent you a lot more but it's possible that they already visited that offer.

TRUST ME, I think it still is garbage traffic but you would have to have your own redirecting page in order to see who exactly is visiting.

I dabbled with this type of

I dabbled with this type of traffic a while back, and believe much of it to be generated outside of the US (Asia it seemed like) via bots. It would be interesting to see if the results were similar with US targeted traffic... or is that what you got?

Junk traffic. Exactly what it is.

Junk traffic is exactly what it is. The traffic is really just so that your site stats will look better. I don't think it's going to work with trying to get conversions. I had this idea before like you did, but glad I never did it.
